Pastoral Letter Clarifying Calls

Advent Greetings.

We have entered the season of preparation called Advent.  My prayer for you and your church is that you will use this time to focus on the coming of the Christ child into our midst.  In an uncertain time some 2,000 years ago, God did a new thing by sending Jesus to a hurting world.  During these uncertain times, may we be on the lookout for what God is doing in our midst.

I am writing today to both clarify upcoming conference meetings as well as invite you to hold yet one more date on your calendar.

First, as announced on November 9, there will be a Special Called Conference at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 via Zoom to deal exclusively with requests for disaffiliation.

From May 22 through 25, we will gather in Tulsa for our normal session of annual conference.  We will worship together, conduct business, and invite you to a day of learning and engagement around the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921.

Finally, please mark your calendars for another Special Called Conference at which we will consider final requests for disaffiliation under Par. 2553 on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14.  We may not need both days and we may have additional business to address but please hold them for now.  This conference will also utilize the Zoom platform as we have used in the past.

It is important to note that disaffiliation votes will only be dealt with at the April and October meetings.
